Project Manager – Michael Kuo
Michael has a Master’s Degree in Urban Planning from Hunter College and has worked as an Owner’s Representative/Project Manager since 2004. His past work includes infill development of museum, condominium and hotel projects in New York, Philadelphia and Los Angeles. Prior to working in the private sector, Michael worked for non-profit organizations dedicated to community-based planning and advocating for greater public participation in the planning process. He was the recipient of the National American Planning Association’s “American Vision Award” for Imagine New York, a project of the Municipal Art Society of New York. Michael has lived in Ithaca with his wife and two children since 2010.
Outreach Coordinator – Tammy Baker
Tammy Baker has a degree in Women’s Studies and is mediator through the NYS Unified Court System. Over the last 15 years, she has provided workshops communication, conflict management workshops for businesses and school groups. As the Program Director at the Community Dispute Resolution Center (CDRC), she mediated over a hundred cases involving workplace conflicts, neighbor disputes, small claim mediations, and family issue and is currently working on a divorce mediation practice. She is the chair Fall Creek Neighborhood Association and volunteers at her daughter’s school. Tammy is a long time resident of Ithaca and lives in Fall Creek with her daughter. As the Project Outreach Coordinator she is delighted to work with the residents, merchants, property owners, and visitors on the Commons to answer any questions regarding the Commons Project.
Asst. Project Manager, Engineer – Jessica Buckley, EIT
Jessica has her Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Vermont. Throughout her college career she worked with rural villages in Honduras to improve their domestic water systems. She is a co-founder of the Clara Vista Foundation, a community driven development nonprofit partnership between communities in New York State and Costa Rica. While traveling in Central America in 2011 she planted roots in Guatemala, where she met her husband and was most recently living before relocating to Ithaca. As the Asst. PM / Engineer she is on site with the contractor observing the work, troubleshooting, and coordinating contractor phasing. She’s always happy to talk to visitors on the Commons and answer questions.
Project Engineer – Nicole Mason, EIT
Nicole holds a BS in Civil Engineering and a Masters degree in Community Development and Applied Economics, both from the University of Vermont. Her goal for becoming an engineer was to help bridge the gap between technical design and it’s impacts on communities around the globe. She has worked and volunteered in Honduras, the Dominican Republic, and briefly in Taiwan, as well as on many municipal infrastructure projects in Vermont and Massachusetts. Nicole has just recently relocated to Ithaca and is very excited to be involved in this complex and rewarding project.
